The more things change...
Well, the journey is officially underway. Z had a doc's appt on Wednesday, and got his best results yet for his A1C (diabetes indicator). So that is awesome! Unfortunately, he also got a result on the scale that made him not quite so happy, so yesterday he began his changes for a more healthy lifestyle.
Today, I started mine. While the scale says more or less what I expected, I would rather it said a number much smaller, and showed that everything I lost after I had my youngest child is back.
Ugh.
I have chosen a more dramatic eating change than he has, and mine isn't something that can go on long term, but I am the kind of person who, if I don't see a big impact initially, will get discouraged and quit. So - a big change in my diet was in order. Although I will say - last night we both had burrito bowls at Chipotle - something that fit in with the caloric count for hubby's plan - and I am shocked to say - a bowl with brown rice is AMAZING. When I add regular meals back into my plan, we're going to have to figure that out at home, because it was AWESOME.
Today my shorty girl and I went to the new gym to work out. I had promised her that if she was a good girl in their child care area, we would go swimming after I was done working out (the new gym has a pool), but unfortunately the pool was closed for cleaning when we got there. (SAD!) I still did my workout. It's nothing compared to what I used to do working out, and within the first 5 minutes, I wanted to quit. BUT...I didn't. I know it is going to take time to build up ANY fitness level again, so I am happy with what I did today. We left there, and drove to a different branch of the gym, and took my baby girl swimming. It's the first time she's ever been in a big pool like that, and she spent the first 10 minutes with a death grip on my neck!
So - we got home and I signed her up for swim classes.
I am thrilled with the changes we are making. Yes, it's only day 1 for me, but I am excited to see where this will go!
