Might need to see a dentist...
There are some things in life that are just SO SWEET....it just aches!
Our oldest son met a girl last year with whom he formed a fast friendship. As the year finished out, there was a poem unfortunately found by our second oldest daughter, and our son was teased unmercifully (by all of us) for the rest of the year...and over the summer. The relationship basically paused for the summer...but with the start of the school year, it has ramped up again.
Now, the thing is, we have a rule - our kids are not allowed to 'date' until they are 16. That hasn't stopped one of our daughters from having a crush on a different boy every couple of months, but...one on one dating has not happened.
Well, it appears that since the school year has started, our son and this girl he likes are both crushing hardcore...and it is SO VERY CUTE. I mean really...if you can recall your first love...the purity and innocence, and intensity...it's all there. I just want to giggle, knowing he's going through this right now!
I had to take his phone away this morning as a penalty for some chores not done, and I have to be honest - I almost didn't want to, just because then he wouldn't be able to text with her during the day.
I have not yet met the young lady, but she sounds SUPER sweet. I know it's silly to hope at this stage that this is the person God plans for our son - but it IS possible, and wouldn't THAT be an amazing testimony.
I've been sitting here thinking of how to approach it if he wants to 'date' this girl...given our rules. I think going out with other friends, or with siblings in tow might be allowable...but we'll see. This young lady has some pretty protective parents, so I think even they would probably have opinions there!
Ahhhhhhh...parenting is always SUCH and adventure!
