Fishes and School and Life, Oh My!

SO, life has been busy! I've been busy with our aquaponic system, and with writing over here. Got Eldest enrolled in her fall classes, and already need to start thinking about Winter. She has sort of formulated a plan of what she wants to do, but I'm in that space where I'm never sure whether it's right to do it for her, nag her to do it, or just let life happen and maybe let her learn the hard way if she doesn't get what she wants because she didn't take initiative. The other kids all went back to school today. It was supposed to be yesterday for the middle school, but...an odd power outage gave him an extra day off. Today they all get their computers, schedules, and we're off to the races for another year. Speaking of school, youngest is now officially enrolled in preschool. I had thought we would homeschool, but my work schedule leaves me feeling like she needs more stimulation during the day. I had been feeling like I was doing a horrible job of educating her. When we toured the preschool, everything they said they focus on teaching in the upcoming year, she can already do. Letter recognition and writing, number recognition and counting, writing their own names...she does ALL of that. SO I guess maybe I shouldn't be so hard on myself. We haven't been doing a daily preschool time, but we do work on it things less formally, so she has learned a lot! I think, though...in the end...having a few hours of play time a few days a week with other kids WILL be good. And then it will be REAL school time! (ACK!) Still undecided...we're homeschooling or doing our church school FOR SURE on that, so we shall see. I will probably keep most of my fish-talk on the other blog, but as of this weekend we'll have an established Aquaponic system in our house. WE need a little more time to get our plants up to snuff, but the other components are rolling. It has been quite an adventure! I can't wait to see how it goes. And now...time for a quick nap before I have to pick up all the monkies!
