I may or may not still smell of chocolate chip cookies...

Today was a special day at our church. To coordinate with his message, our pastor had requested special food in the sanctuary to have a little party with the congregation. They had mini cinnamon rolls, texas roadhouse rolls, and sea salt caramel truffles. Additionally, to welcome everyone in to the experience, they wanted us baking cookies as people came into the church, and the cookies then went to the kids in our children's ministry. I needed to make 700 cookies - but once I ordered them, we ended up with 920 cookies. I had a great time with some of my best kitchen workers, strategizing about when each batch should go in, in order to have 'smell' in the entryway, fellowship hall, and sanctuary right when it was supposed to be there. All in all, we had a GREAT time. But can I just say - what a DOWNER to be baking 920 cookies on the day I started a different eating plan that absolutely DOES NOT allow for even a molecule of chocolate chip cookie? It was all good though - I had a bowl of soup before we left, and I had taken some fruit with me so I could snack through the morning if I needed to, but I really didn't. I wasn't even really that hungry until after we finished baking, and were ready to go home. Then it was like my stomach was trying to consume itself! But...a little more fruit and soup and all is right with the world. The cookies were sweet torture, however. Come to think of it, the toast my daughter asked for as soon as we got home (her tummy was hurting) was pretty much torture too. I just LOVE bread. I know after this week, I can go back and have things in moderation, but right now everything (other than the soup) sounds SO GOOD! I did end up having a huge bowl of fruit this evening - which was wonderful. It is definitely one of those 'you eat with your eyes' situations, because it looks (and smells) so good, I just want to eat the fruit! Tomorrow, all veg and soup. Then Tuesday, all the fruit and veg I can handle, plus the soup. (Yes, I'm doing the cabbage soup diet. I just still really feel like I need a big kick-off to start this, so there you have it.) The few days after that get more weird - banana and skim milk day is going to be hard for me. Then Steak and tomato day - I am looking forward to that! The other cool thing is my husband took the initial soup I made (following the recipe) and tweaked it, so now it tastes like a veggie chili. It is nice to have the change in flavors. Anyway ...a few days in, and things are going great!
